We are pleased to announce that Grzegorz Grabe, Independent Group Leader focusing on bacterial toxin-antitoxin systems in the MRS Lab, is a co-author of a research article published in the journal Nature.
The study was carried out in the Helaine Lab at Harvard Medical School, where Grzegorz previously worked as a postdoctoral fellow. The Helaine Lab, led by Professor Sophie Helaine, focuses on understanding bacterial behaviour during infection and mechanisms of antibiotic persistence and stress responses.
The publication, resulting from an international collaboration, describes the mechanism of an allosterically activated prophage nuclease functioning as an abortive infection protein, providing important insights into bacterial defence strategies against phage infection and advancing our understanding of nuclease regulation during infection.
The contribution of a former member of the Helaine Lab, now leading an independent team in the MRS Lab, to a publication in Nature represents a significant scientific achievement and highlights both the strength of prior collaborative environments and the continuity of high-quality research within our community.
We warmly congratulate Grzegorz and all co-authors on this outstanding accomplishment and are proud to see such impactful research connected with the MRS Lab.
