Michał at EMBO Young Scientists’ Forum 2025

From 24 to 26 September 2025, Michał had the pleasure of participating as an invited speaker at the EMBO Young Scientists’ Forum (EYSF) in Vilnius, Lithuania, hosted at the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences. The forum is a unique event that brings together doctoral and postdoctoral researchers from across Europe, while also featuring contributions from established scientists who share their perspectives and experiences.

In his talk, Michał presented the latest progress from our lab on mitochondrial genome maintenance. He focused on how lipid–enzyme interactions and coordinated nuclease activities shape efficient DNA repair in mitochondria, highlighting new mechanistic insights and their potential implications for genome stability and human disease.

The meeting offered more than just formal presentations. It created a welcoming atmosphere for open discussion, with lively Q&A sessions, informal conversations with young researchers, and many opportunities to exchange ideas. For our team, it was a valuable chance to receive constructive feedback on experimental strategies and to explore possible collaborations with colleagues working in related areas.

We are grateful to the organisers and EMBO for the invitation and for putting together such a high-quality, inspiring programme. Taking part in the EYSF in Vilnius was a rewarding experience that not only allowed us to share our results but also to connect with the vibrant community of early-career scientists from across Europe.
